I was perusing some photos of the shot show and came across these pictures from gunblast.com. At first glance it looks like a 94 copy but as you can see it is a unique design.

Interesting, that bolt looks like a big 22RF bolt. Sorta looks like a 94, but a goofy version. Any idea what calibres? Good to see a basic Appalacian Assault rifle back in production. Knowing Mossberg it will be stout enough and cheap. Gotta love that. I'll have one in 35Rem thanks.

The pictures are links to gunblast.com 2008 shot show so their server may be down or perhaps your browser security setting may consider it cross site danger. http://www.gunblast.com/SHOT_2008_2.htm is a link to the shot show page with the pictures if you want to go directly their.

As for calibers, the only mention I recall was .30-30.

They built my first Lever. It'd be interesting to play with this for a while. I'll return it just as soon as I'm done.. ;)

They show a .22 rimfire version as well as the .30-30 but no pistol calibers yet, or .307s, .356s, .375s, .454s, or .480 Rugers. When (if) they add them, the cash register will really start ringing.
Oops, forgot to put in a plug for two of my favorites, .357 Max and .445 Super Mag.

I don't see it on the Mossberg website...

You have to wait till their catalog loads on your computer, then scroll down. If you're on dial up, it could take a long time. Except for the round bolt, it looks a lot like the 1894 Winchester. The .22 looks like the .30-30 except for barrel and magazine tube size.

Thanks Scrounger. I was looking at their pull down tabs under firearms and what's new. I wonder why they haven't listed it in those places yet.

This is interesting for sure. Have any of you seen the new Henry .30-30? I have seen an ad and wondered what the real gun looked like. They make fine guns and with the '94 out of production I can see where Henry could jump on the bandwagon and sell a ton of their new .30-30's.

As I remember it..hoo boy...the Henry is pushing 800 bucks or so.
I sure hope the Mossberg is more affordabel than that.

This is evidently a new design. Mossberg did make a line of Marlin-ish silod-top, side-ejecting lever actions, the Model 472, 1961-71, but this has an open-top receiver. Interesting!

OK. Looks D&T for scope or receiver sights, with a tang safety..... Is this a true top eject, or an angle eject?

Based on the position of the extractor and ejector in the picture, it looks like it would eject sideways, maybe 15 degrees above horizontal.

Those D&T scope mount holes appear to be at top dead center on the receiver. VERY interesting.

My big question is... Is it a Mossberg (made in USA), or a Mossberg International (made in some third world sweatshop).

Mossberg stuff has a great warranty and parts availability, Mossberg international could be a problem down the road.

Until they are proven I'll stick with my Marlins.

Guess I'm different... since using Marlins I have no desire to own anything else. I have really gotten used to their simple design and being able to clean from the chamber end, like a gun should be cleaned. I've not had any experience with the Henry's. Do they have to be cleaned from the muzzle like the Winchesters? Henry's are sure nice looking and I've heard their quality is really good. Any comments?

Winchesters don't need to be cleaned from the muzzle... not if you use a Boresnake or Otis...

I still believe it's easier to use regular rod & cleaning equipment. You'll play heck getting a really fouled rifle clean with a Bore Snake and Otis isn't the most convenient, either. I still would like some comments on the Henry question if anyone has the answers.

I don't like the 1 - 10 twist. It won't be higher speed cast friendly.

I sure would like to have one in my hand for a good look see....
