View Full Version : Who makes Custom Dillon powder funnels?

There used to be someone on the board who made custom Dillon powder funnels that expanded brass like a Lyman M-die does. Does anyone know who is doing that now?

I'd like to get one made for .38/.357 as I don't like the way the Lee 105 SWC is seating into the cases with the standard Dillon powder funnel.

Dave,
I could make one for you. Look at the last post in this thread http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?244011-Dimensions-for-dillon-powder-funnel&p=2819511#post2819511
this is a sketch I made of a Dillon A and B funnel. Which one do you need for a .38/.357? Or is it a different one altogether? I am not that familiar with Dillon products, especially pistol items.

38/357 uses a D funnel. It flares the case. Other than the outside diameter, pistol funnels have little in common with rifle funnels like the A and B funnels in your drawings.

They sell a powder funnel for dillon powder dies that expands the case like the lyman "m" die does. $32.

Wow, that pretty much solves it, but those are expensive for just the powder funnel. I wonder if anyone has the dimension on the Mr. Bulletfeeder powder funnel handy.

Steve, the ones you post are obviously rifle caliber, but you know that. The Dillon funnel I want a custom on is the D funnel as A. Kelly stated and flares the case for pistol. What I want to do is to change the end of the powder funnel to function as a Lyman M-die would. Mr Bulletfeeder company has figured it out and is producing them, but their product is expensive for a powder funnel to me.

I'm not sure what Dillon charges, but I'm pretty sure something in the range of 20-25 dollars would be more reasonable. Long term, I would want to convert all my pistol cartrides to do that and at 32 bucks a pop, that's going to add up pretty quick.

Most powder funnels from Dillon are $15.95. If you have a lathe, you could modify the one you have to do what you want it to. If you screw up, then it's $16 plus $15 shipping and handling. You could probably buy them from Brian Enos for the same amount, but he charges a more reasonable amount for shipping.

I could measure the powder funnel from Mr Bullet Feeder for you (.38/.357), but the most accurate measuring tool I have is a cheap digital caliper I got from Harbor Freight.

VHoward, in red in the quote:

The originals lack the material in the desired area of change to modify them to the shape of an M-die, so using one of them is out. I think my quote, off the top of my head, included shipping and from the looks of it, I was close.

Thank you for offering, but I already have a Lyman M-die Multi-Expand kit I can draw dimensions off off. When compared to the standard Dillon powder funnel, all that would need to be different is the actual expanding tip. The Lyman M-die "tip" and the Dillon powder funnel "tip" are the same length in the respective calibers.

And while I'd like to make one, I don't have a lathe or tooling. Hence why I was asking if anyone on the board made them.

Post a question to this guy. He'll make whatever size you want. Pistol types are $5.00 more.
