I picked up a nice Pacific Power C for a song but it is missing the handle. Should be easy to make but I don't know how long to make it.

My goal is to use it for priming and depriming if it makes a difference.

Thanks,Randy

The originals were not very long! The handle was just a little taller than the press when installed (maybe a 1/2 inch). They came with funky bike grips of varying colors depending on the model and time frame.

Will you be sizing while de-priming? That will make a difference.

Making a handle gives the added benefit of being able to make it longer. The longer the handle, the greater the leverage and the easier it is to FL size cases. A 16 to 18 inch handle is real nice to have at times.

The threads should be 1/2 NF. If you don't want to make a handle, the handle from a Redding turret press is the same thread. Probably a few others as well.

Mine has a 12in handle including the threads. If you are making one I would add at least 4 inches. The rod dia. is 5/8. Tough old press. Mine handles my sizing chores quite well.

Thanks for the help, I will make a longer one or maybe make two handles, one short and one long.

Thanks,Randy

A short handle about 8 inches long is really nice for priming. It gives a lot better feel and less wasted stroke energy.

A longer heavier handle will not allow the ram to stay in the down position. I have one with a heavier handle and the weight will not allow the handle to stay in the up position .

You could order one of the wooden balls Lee has for the handle on the end.

Or find a pool ball, drill it, and do the same thing.

I had that thought as I am cogitating on how I am going to build the handle.

I tend to use things I have in the shop as I don't like buying materials for everything I build.

I should have something built by next week. I'll post some pics when done.

Thanks for all the suggestions, its been a big help.
