M&P 45acp opinions

So I've been looking for a polymer 45 to add to the stable. A good friend of mine is in need of some cash and wants me to buy his. It was bought in 2009/2010 best as he can recall. At best 100-150 rounds through it and it looks it. Comes with 2 mags and box. He's not sure what happened to the large and small back plates but I'd run the medium one anyhow. He wants $400 which is fine price wise for me, but want to make sure it doesn't have any known issues. He states he wouldn't want it back, but I would still offer right to first refusal if I did buy. No emotional attachment for him.

What do y'all think?

From what I've seen the biggest problem with the M&P is getting your hands on one.
Factory is selling them faster than they can make them.

I think for that price if you don't want it I'll take it.

I'd beat him down to $375.00 on general principle (blame it on the grip inserts), and then jump on it with both feet. Although, as GhostHawk said, it's a good deal at $400.00.

Im on the other side of the fence. I love Smith and Wesson revolters but I had one of those M&P in 45 acp and could not get rid of it fast enough. I absolutly hated the trigger on it and could not ever get use to in. Im the same way with a glock just dont like there triggers. Al

I have a friend with a 9mm M&P with an Apex trigger kit he put in it.

Very nice trigger now, and seems to fit my hand well. From just handling and
dry fire - seems to be a really excellent pistol. I think the .45 would be
better, esp (IMO) if it has the safety.

I bought one around 2009-2010 so mine is mostly like the one your friend is selling. The pistol is accurate and has never failed to feed or eject. They are as reliable as they come in my limited experience.

I have the 45c, and I really like it. As far as tupperware triggers go, its as good as any , and better than most, and you can install an Apex kit to improve it still further. I don't think you'll regret buying it, and if you don't care for it after you have shot it for awhile you can get your money back pretty easily. Go for it.

I have the M&P 45 but knew before I bought it about the trigger. I installed the Apex upgrade and love it.

I've had an M&P in .40 as my EDC for 3 years; it works very well, trigger pull is better than most, and no unusual wear or strange behavior to report. I've carried more expensive semi-autos that had unusual wear and were very picky about what ammo you fed them, as well as some that just felt like cheap toys when I fired them. No such issues with the M&P.

I picked up a pair of 45 S&W M&P just at the beginning of the great pandemic , about $305 a piece from the same guy on gunbroker police trade ins and they had some wear but not shot a lot , I like them , they shoot as good as anything else and they seem to fit me , triggers are not bad at all , came with a couple magazines and bought quite a few more when recoil gunworks had them in and they were cheap.

I do like the Sringfield XDM and the Mod2 , have a few , no sigs , but I like the Glock 41 to , and 1911 of course .

So to complete the thread. I ended up giving him the $400. Shot the heck out of it and sold it a few months ago when I was downsizing for $500. No complaints here. I did offer right of first refusal. He had swapped and traded a few since then.

I have a 45C that I installed the Apex sear in. That made it much more enjoyable to shoot! The gun is okay, and is accurate enough for what it is. Never had any trouble with it, but it kind of leaves me cold. I'm thinking about parting with it once I return to the States. I'll probably replace it with a Staccato C2 DPO in 9mm for EDC. A radical shift, from a polymer, striker-fired .45 to a 2011 9mm, but time marches on.

If you dont want it for 400 id sure take it. Ive got a m&p shield and an m&p compact in 45acp and they both been great guns as have all of my M&Ps. 9 at last count. Ya they dont come with a target grade trigger but there as good as a glock and plenty good enough for what there intended to do. There also every bit as reliable as a glock. In todays market 400 dollars is darned good price for a darned good gun. Personaly i wouldnt spend the big bucks to buy an apex trigger. Ill do a 20 dollar trigger job on a glock but im not spending over a 100 dollars for a trigger for a 400 dollar gun. I have one i bought that has an apex. Is it bettter? Sure it is but its still far from a good crisp 3lb 1911 trigger.
