When did Ruger start making the Model 77 with integral scope bases?

My memory fails me on this one. I remember Ruger had a "Round Top" model at one time. Bet there is a Ruger expert with the straight dope out there someplace.

I have one with a 72 pre-fix serial number that dates from 1977. It has a round top. I read that it takes Remington 700 bases but I could not find the years it was made. I didn't know if the early guns were round tops and then later in production the integrals were adopted.

Ruger has, as far as I know, been making 77s with integral mounts since day one. It's a hallmark of the Ruger 77. They did market a long time ago, a round top receiver for those shooters that absolutely had to have separate mounts. I often wonder how well they sold. Also gotta wonder why anyone buying a Ruger 77 would even bother with DnT mount holes... Their system just plain works.

I can't imagine they made many. I've owned, seen and handled a lot of 77's and this is maybe the second or third one with a round top.

I have a round top from '73 or '74, can't remember when I bought it. First run of .257Rob.

Bought my M77 in 1975.....prefix on the s.n. is 74-.....It has the integral rings......

I bought one (a flat bolt .308) in 1970-71 that has integral mounts. Still a good shooter.

I have a 30/06 I bought new in 1976 or so that has the integral mounts. It seems that they also offered a round top at that time.

From inception in 1968.

The non-integral scope mount, "round top" Models 77ST (w/open sights) & 77PL (no open sights) were a offered for only a few years in the mid-1970's.
