I mounted a 2 X scope on my Super 14", 44 mag. yesterday.
I had some .44 Specials loads with Clays and a SAECO 200 gr. SWC, sized .4315" . These were originally intended for use in my S & W Model 624. I shot .44 Specials rather than Magnums yesterday in my Super 14 .
A lot of people tell you that you'll get a loss of accuracy with a Special in a Magnum gun, it didn't present itself as a problem yesterday.

WOW ! This is fun !

Ben. I'm wondering how well my 45 Colt barrel will shoot being it will also chamber 410 shells. Pretty long throat.

Nice group Ben! looks like you've tamed the T/C brute in .44 mag with your special load.
Years ago I had a 10" bbl in .44 mag for my old model T/C. The loads I shot out of my Smiths and Rugers, which used copious amounts of WC 820 and the 429421, were too much gun for me in the T/C. Felt re-coil was brutal, and I had Pachy's on it to boot.
I don't remember the weight difference between a 10" and a 14", but as I recall, it was considerable. Try some maggies in your 14" bbl and report back.
We once had a guy who shot IHMSA at our club with a T/C and a 14" bbl in .444 Marlin. He didn't last long, but everybody remembers Ted and his .444 marlin when he shot it!

Shuz,

Yes, if it isn't fun I'm going to change something until it is fun.

It doesn't seem that there would be much chance of a 444 Marlin being fun.

The straight wall catridges really seem to shoot well in the contender. I am just starting to experiment with the bottle neck catridges in my contender.

Just how much Clays did you stuff behind that 200 grainer.

Any idea of velocity?

A 298 gr..454" lee minie ball shoots pretty well in my Bond Arms derringer 45/410. One of only two bullets that don't tumble out of it.
The skirt on the minnie flares out to help seal the 410 portion of the bbl. evidently. I only shoot 6 gr. of unique behind it, but it's darn accurate considering what the derringer was made for.

Sorry for the confusion on this post... i was replying to waco's post above and hit the wrong button i guess.

I was kinda bummed when Mike Belm, a Tender guru of sorts, told me my 45/410 barrel was pretty much junk. LOL
I will still try the colt loads in it I guess. I still don't know if it's ok to shoot boolits out of that barrel over the unprotected threads after the choke is taken out.
Guess I'll just focus on the thuty thuty barrel. Got some 110 and 130gr HP's loaded up with SR4759 while I wait for my .309 sizer die. Hoping to go shoot this weekend!

Oops, forgot about the threaded choke on the TC's. Yep, that hollow base i was talking about would probably drag right across the threads if it wasn't scewed in.

Ben, Nice to hear the 44 spl loads work so good. I have hunting loads for my 14" TC that I also use in my 7.5" RBH bisley and my winny trapper. They are pretty stout. Know I know I can dial back to 44 SPL loads to use in my 44 spl RBH and TC.

3.8 grs. of Clays.
Again, I never intended to load these for my Super 14.
They were loaded a yr. or so ago for my Smith Model 624 , 6" revolver.
Velocity , I can't say.
Accurate,........... I can say !

I used to shoot my TC44-14" in IHMSA matches. 25 yards is a little close. That gun is capable in reaching out and touching something at 200 meters. I've since mounted a 3x TC scope with Leupold base and rings. The ol' eye balls ain't what they used to be.
