When using gas checks, is it still important to match bullet hardness to the pressure curve?

In a revolter, yes, because of the slam-bang action into the forcing cone. In a rifle, yes, if seated too deep when using a pistol speed powder. As the powder slows, and as the seating depth gets to its best length for the powder speed, then all that is left to worry about is the boolit form, such as ogive taper towards the nose. The fatter the taper, the less hardness is required. Same for bore rider designs. Bore rider designs must be tight fitting up to the ogive, otherwise they require hard material. ... felix

Thanks, Felix. If that's the case could you load as long as possible and use a slower powder to achieve higher velocity (pressure) with a soft - 10 to 15 BHN - gas checked bullet in pistol caliber carbine without causing accuracy or leading problems? Maybe a better question is what is the pressure limit for a 10 to 15 BHN gas checked bullet shot through a rifle (in this case, a Marlin 1894C)?
