I have a tender on the way also. Just 10" barrels without scopes, but I'd like to see what others are using as well.

It's not really that bad at all. It pretty well maxes out with a 450 at a little over 1,000 fps. I still need to stain the rear grip to match the forend.. Surprisingly accurate, 3/4" or less for 3 shots at 50 yds.

As far as keeping it on topic, I had a T/C brand shoulder holster for my scoped 14" 30-30. I see them from time to time on Ebay.

Like many things he did, I am a fan of the late Junior Dougherty's method.

I made a plate to fit under the factory grip screw cover but would feel better with my own steel screw cover. I need to get some time and file one into shape.

Were do you get sling swivels for contenders if I cut my 30-30 that short I would loose alot of muzzle velocity

I use a sling system for mine. However I use the barrel mounted sling mount, with the modified grip screw for the rear. A simple barrel band & the modified screw & you are good to go!
It's easier to carry that way with the 14" barrels.

when I took my 14" .357 max pig hunting I made a pass thru cross draw holster out of an old holster I had, cut the bottom and the weight of the gun kept it in place, it kind of looked like the old six shooter bucket style, then again I don't use scopes so that may be a bit of a challenge.

Uncle Mike's shoulder holsters work like a dream but I use a sling on revolver butts also. I don't want the gun going to the ground if I snooze in the tree stand!
The best sling is the 6' utility sling from Midsouth. I adjust it so the gun hangs at my hand when stalking.
I buy sling studs long enough and drill and tap the revolver butt.118391
This is how I do it, notice the spacer for the grip thickness.

If I'm planning on sitting in a set spot and watching a trail or something, lots of times I just carry it in a backpack that contains my lunch, water, extra clothing (in case it gets colder), poncho, etc. TO be fair, I always carry a sidearm of some kind so can take a deer or hog or something with it if I happen across it on the way in or out, and the sidearm is quick to get to, unlike the Contender if in a backpack. Then just sit on the backpack itself when I get to the hunting spot. I keep thinking about getting some kind of holster or sling for it, but haven't found one I like quite right just yet.

THAT.. is.. AWESOME!!! :drinks: I have been wondering about this carry issue myself because I have several 10" barrels now that might start making trips into the woods.

Not gonna get me to fire that thing, not ever. no way, no how. There is something about the contender that just doesn't work in my hand.
But I still have to admire it. Nice work.

I use a sling, but be careful when you have the Contender slung around your shoulder and you bend over to pick up something or stoop down in the woods. The Contender handgun will be upside down, and the first thing that gets hit is the scope. I put a nice little nick in ocular end of the glass on a Burris handgun scope that way.

I have cross draw shoulder holsters for my TC's, one for scoped and one for iron sighted barrels; the grip is positioned near my lower left rib cage on my left side and the bbl slopes downward and rearward along my side.

I've used an Uncle Mike's sling on a TC44-14" with a 3x scope. I have had it draped over my neck. The gun was upside down and in front of me.

I usually have a pack when T/C hunting. I tuck it in the belly strap with the scope catching the outside. Hiked plenty like this but I like 10-12" barrels a longer one would make this unpracticle. But then if you carry and shoot a scoped long barrel contender you aren't worried about a light handy weapon system.
