Ok gents, i worked up a load for my glock 19 using 120gr lee tc bullet that is pc coated. I used 4.1 gr of w231 at 1.080 and got excellent groups. Now i see that im down to .5 of a lb of that powder but i have 3lb of wsf. Im looking for a loas that will give me factory type velocities so not interested in powderpuff loads. Anyone have a load using this combo to give me a starting point? Thx for any replies.

I use 4.2 WST in my Taurus 9mm with good results. I would suggest starting at 3.7-3.8 and working up.

Well tazman, i had 5 already loaded with 4.5gr and went out and shot em. Slightly flattened primers but just barely. I backed it down to 4.3 and it shot really nice. First batch was spotty on accuracy. The new load printed a 2" seven shot group at 15 yrds. Looking promising.

Are you using WSF or WST? OP said WSF and reply was a load for WST....

Quite right. My apologies. I misread the original post(I have to chalk it up to poor eyesight). Fortunately I posted the correct numbers for the specific powder I mentioned.

The Hodgdon data site has load data for a cast 124 grain RN using WSF. Suggested load range was 4.0 to start-4.7 max. The data should be safe with the slightly lighter boolit.

Sounds like the OP's pistol likes a slightly lighter load.

Petroid, im using wsf, the loads im working up are with wsf in lieu of my noal w231. I do use wsf at 5.6 with 115 fmj's and they are quite accurate and snappy. I really like the lee .356-120tc and just want a load that will give me around 1175-1200fps. I like to load in batches and at factory velocities so that practice loads recoil similar to defensive loads.

Have you chronoed that load?
The Hodgdon site only listed 1055 fps for the max load. Every pistol is different. You may get significantly different velocities than the data site shows.

Well, im betting that roundnose 124 is seated longer than my 1.080 oal. I dont have a chrono but will check em at a friend place as he has one. If i cant get velocities i want with wsf, i guess i will have to scroung up some more w-231 or hp to do it. My 115 gr fmj wsf loads are plenty quick at 5.7gr but it a lighter slug. Careful trial and error will get me there at some point lol

Sounds like a plan.

The following loads were chrono'd out of a Browning HP with the Lee 121TC@1.070 oal.
4.6/wsf=1092
4.7 WSF=1124
5.1 WSF=1180
5.2 Herco= 1208
6.0 Herco=1290
IME in the 9MM and .38 spl Herco and WSF give EXACTLY the same velocities.

5.4 grs of WSF will give excellent results with FMJ. Keep the OAL close to, but not over 1.155" That load works well with 115-124 FMJ bullets. For cast bullets in the same weight range, drop it down to around 5.0 grs. of WSF. (depending on the gun, some can go a little lower and still cycle reliably )
By the way, WSF is a great powder for 9mm Luger. My GF has shot thousands of rounds through her Glock 19 using WSF powder with Zero issues. Wish I had more WSF !!

Thx fecmec, good to know. I will slowly sneak up to that area and watch my primers . Thats about the range im looking for. Petrol and powder, thx for the info. I usually run my fmj's at 5.6 of wsf at 1.140 and get great results. Ive been using wsf for my 115's for a few urs and love it. Thx again all.
