Has anyone had any luck with 800-x in 25acp? I bought some Magtech 50gr bullets to see if I could load some rounds. Since I'm going to measure each charge anyway and have a pound sitting there (Hodgdon list 1.8gr max with Sierra 50gr fmj) it seems like a good choice.

You must be a very patient person! You will end up counting individual flakes.

you will have to try but bet you will find a lot of unburned powder and that will cause jamming.

I would think it is too slow. Perhaps something more in the Bullseye or 700-X range.

that was my intial thought too, but it is in fact listed in the manual. so if a guy has the powder on hand it may be worth testing a few and seeing how they work.

I had some time this morning to try a few rounds. I found out the Iver Johnson pistol I have doesn't like cci primers and it took multiple hits to get it to fire. I switched to WSP primers and no more problems. With 1.6gr of 800x offhand at 7 yards I shot a 6" group with 10 rounds. It is dirty like a Bullseye load and hard to measure with an electronic scale. It's hard to see those little sites but I like this pocket pistol(the slide hasn't bit me yet).

I have a Bauer 25 ACP and use Titegroup, I made a scope out of a 22 case, handle from a piece of copper wire.
Filled the case down till I found what was needed to drop a 1 gr charge of the powder, works well for me.
Yes the 25 ACP is a PIA to reload, but it is what we do.

What about using this powder in a Rifle Length firearm for .25ACP cartridges?

With 50 gr FMJ 0.910" OAL, I had the following results with 800X in 25acp:

5.0 gr 800X WSP, ok, no egg, little gilding, extreme recoil.compression

2.6 gr 800X, .89" wspm, kicks, single compression
3.6 gr kicks harder double compression
4.3 gr kicks harder triple compression
4.7 gr not so hard
4.7 gr not so hard
5.0
5.5 gr, qaud compression, no egg
5.5 gr 800X, .905" qaud, wsp, super wimpy, no egg

egg = extractor groove growth damage to brass.

I think Power Pistol works better, but you can use 800X if you want to.

What was the test Barrel length and did you measure the Velocities?
