Anyone know how the guts come out of the spool ?
I removed all the screws and have it soaking in wd40.
Some hack let it seize up. Theres no visible rust.

thanks

I don't know if I have one of those. I'll have to look and see.

Did you take a light and look into the powder hold?

It may take a sawed off Allen wrench inside the powder hold?

Give me a couple more pictures, please. I can tell you how to take apart a Redding "Bank Vault" (Anybody know the real model distinction for it?), but I'm no help on the Herters version of it. My only suggestion is to unscrew the actual dial part from the main rotating body drum thing, but I feel like you have tried that already.

PS: I'm jealous. I want one.

Thanks guys it broke loose after soaking it in a 50/50 mix of ATF & acetone.
then degreased with some cheap laquer thinner.
Best not to get in a hurry on this stuff you can't get relacement parts for.
Now if I had some powder to go with it.
I guess I could use it for instant coffee and have the EXACT same cup of coffee EVERY time.
Get 2 more for sugar and creamer, screw them to the kitchen counter.

Glad your mixture worked. Since you said it was frozen, that's why I didn't mention unscrewing.

But the more I thought about it, that seemed to be the only way to go.

Mocaster, I have a few of the Reddings myself. I just call them the Bank Vaults as well.

It must have a cam inside it,the way it operates.
When it gets to TDC its hard to turn but a light touch on the piston gets it going.
I could probably get it apart but sticking a punch thru the center hole that holds the tensioner.
But no need to now.If it aint broke dont fixit.

The front face of the drum is a press fit disk. How you get it out I don't know, though I have one that fell out on its own. The insides are very simple, amazingly simple.
