I replaced the inner mag tube spring/plunger with a new one from Numrich. The original was missing. This is what I am getting. If I work the bolt fast, it slings the round all the way out.

My first reaction is that the spring may be too strong. Does it do that with only one round in the magazine?

Yes. In the picture there was only one round loaded in the tube.

I have singleshots and clip feeders of that series, but no tubes, so I may be way off base, but I would inspect for wear or something broken. What was the problem with the old spring?

The old spring was missing. I'm thinking (what would be called feed lips on a detatchable magazine) may be spread/bent out too far.

That sounds like the problem, alright. Is there a mechanical lifter in that action? A sort of platform that catches the round out of the magazine, and lifts it up in line with the chamber? Or does it sort of pop up in line under momentum?

From memory I have to say there is a mechanical lifter. I'm almost sure there is but the rifle is at home and I am at the shop.
