I'd like to start casting boolits for my TC Firehawk. I use Hornady XTP .430", 240gr and Hornady green sabots with 100gr Pyrodex Select and 209 primers. This combo gives me about 1" groups at 100 yards for 5 shots without cleaning between shots. Any mold suggestions for a saboted load that would approximate this performance?

if it is a 1/28 twist your bullet should be .9 to 1 inch long with a .430 bullet. anything less than that can cause it to spriral out of control. dont worry about the weight. concentrate on the diam and the proper length. its a lot cheaper to cast your own and it is a good way to go for sabots. if you find a pistol mould that fit the specs. above and it also has a beveled base that is the one to get. the beveled base helps the bullet be released by the sabot better. also for economy and quality, mmp sabots can be bought in bulk at a big discount and shipped free. i bought several hundred at once and it didnt cost a arm and a leg.

What do you guys think about using an RCBS 44-240K to replace that Hornady XTP?

OK, what about a 429421?

Does anyone use LSWC PB for sabots?

I've shot the lyman 241 and the 244 in my TC encore inline and in a TC firestorm with very good results my best is 1 in 3 shot at 100yards with inline encore with fire sights. It works for me. I use goeff black.
