I recently started a thread about a trigger job on my Sig Tac Pac 1911. Its a great accurate 45 but its trigger while breaking clean probably has a 8 or 9 lb trigger pull.....it sucks. Some mentioned a drop in trigger parts kit at a price of around $160 and while that is a great solution maybe I can take that $160 and put a few bucks with it and get a decent stoning fixture and simply do my own. I will point out that I didn't want to do this because of concerns of the warranty.

So, I found a Power Series I Universal Stoning Fixture that you can purchase additional fixture pieces for different guns. What other stoning fixtures are available out there that will do the same thing as the Power Series I? What fixture is the best? I only want to buy once and buy the best that I can afford.

I've watched the videos on this piece several times and it looks like a two year old with a little help could work this unit so I should be able to do it.:-?

I have a jig from Brownell's and the ceramic stones. It works flawlessly.

I used to do that and really enjoyed the work and the results. Then I got old and lazy.

Go for it.

What brand? What stones did you purchase?

I think my jig was a Wilson, I'm not even sure they make them any more; it was similar to the Ed Brown jig. It was used with Norton ½" x ½" x 6" medium and fine India stones.

The link above is for the jig. It is Marvel and not exactly like the one I have since I bought mine 15-20 years ago but it is the Marvel Ultimate sear jig. The stones (lower link) are the same but did not come in the wooden case. These are expensive but work flawlessly. Another good one and much cheaper is the Ed Brown sear Jig. It is also from Brownell's.

I have the power custom series two. It works pretty good, but what you will find is that by the time you properly polish and debur the inside of the frame, and your factory parts, that there is a lot of slop in your trigger, requiring you to buy new oversized parts and fit them.
If you only have one gun to do, the cylinder and slide drop in kits are very nice.

Here is the one I have, it's a Powers II. have adapters for 1911 and Ruger MKII. It works well I like it. I have two ceramic stones to use with it, but I think they are too fine, need one a bit more coarse to start with and then use the ones I have now for finishing.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/PaulGauthier/IMG_5681_zps5690c932.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/PaulGauthier/media/IMG_5681_zps5690c932.jpg.html)

P.S I know it dirty, I haven't used it in years.
