I shot one for years, the locks are worn out. Yours sounds like a canadate for building a double flinter.

These guys say on their home page that they have locks and lock parts for those guns.

You will need a parts gun for the tang if yours is a Pietta. I've been looking for a tang for months without success. Mr. Beauchamp has all the lock parts though. There are two whole guns for sale on GB right now, one brand new in the box for probably less than you'd spend on all those parts individually and without the headache too!

surely that tang would be easy to make from common metal, no?

Easy for a gunsmith or blacksmith maybe but not me! :(

Chanel Steel is ideal for making the Tang.I have used it many times.http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/s452/livebattery/10GFlintlockShotgun008.jpg (http://s1052.photobucket.com/user/livebattery/media/10GFlintlockShotgun008.jpg.html)

seeing that is getting me all hot and bothered over a sweet 16 gauge double barrel(barrel only) I have in storage!

check this guy out. He is the son of Val Forgett, and he has a lot of smalls that you might be able to make work. You might also contact him and ask about your particular situation. He seems to have a lot of Navy Arms left overs.

This was after wearing the püaint off of the keyboard letters searching. Doesn't look like they have Pietta stuff but they do. Here it is.. Phoe 413.698.3822 or email flintetc@berkshire.rr.com

A strip of 12L14 will be easy to work and plenty strong.
