Finally escaped work and hopped in the car, low fuel light was on. :( Luckily the cheapest gas in four counties is just down the road so I headed that way. Pulled up to the pumps and couldn't help but notice a blaze orange top worn by a dainty little thing in high heels. I pulled in at the next pump. She was rather nicely dressed, plenty of makeup, perfume and bling everywhere...on all but one finger. Her eye-catching-top was somewhat sheer, didn't hide a pretty decent figure. She finally looked my way, we said "hi" and I noticed she was a little, OK, a lot older than I had expected. :violin:

It was all I could do to keep from asking her if she was going hunting, matter of fact my tongue still hurts a little.

Well, in all fairness I'm a little older than she was looking for too. If you really want a pic I think I can probably guess which bar she's hanging out in...but I don't do bars.

Until just a week or so back. I did nOT realize that "cougar" is a set of initials, an acronym. NVCurmudgeon educated me:

C- cute

O- older

U- upscale

G -gal

A -after

R - romance

Works for me, and they can be be FAR more dangerous than the four-footed variety. All you varmints had best beware!

You had me going with post title also ...... My Bro that retired to Ideeho, saw a REAL big kitty while elk hunting this week. I haven't seen one around here in a couple of years, but I do see tracks and hear them scream quite often. Funny thing, when I start seeing tracks and hearing them there is always suddenly a shortage of feral cats .....

Probably a good think I didn't ask the hunting question, what if she'd asked if I was game? lolol

Cougar, a sleek, powerful, and beautiful predator that can empty your bank account, max your credit cards, and end up with your house.

10X,
I think I've met that one. Should've shot that one on sight, but wasn't smart enough. :)

That is all of them. And they all can survive multiple shots from even excessively large calibers...

Did somebody say cougars? As in older, well to do women looking for younger guys to buy stuff for and give a credit card to?

That is likely how the one the OP spotted got all that "Bling"!!! Now she's looking for more???

Possibly a good housekeeper.
Starts a relationship with a guy, drops the guy, moves on, keeps the house.....

Haha, I'll take my chances with the 4 legged kind. At least I know where I stand with them.

I've a sort of "sponsorship" with 4-5 of those 'Cougars" who have become enlightened as to the presence of some live ones at most local gunshows...Hand one a "dealers" badge for the w'kend, and it will sure enough slow the traffic passing our tables..Move on to a different choice if the next outing is less than 100 miles away...There is a waiting list !!! A couple of the present group are now on their second tour,as 2-3 years is sufficient to meet their "goals" for a relationship[..

Thing to remember about either type of cougar is that they disagree with our version of the food chain.

Cougars of all species have a firm belief that they are at the top of the food chain - and some limit their diet to stay that way..

Well it did not sound like a "Turkey Vulture" - A cougar past her prime, still on the hunt, but unable to bring down faster and wilier prey like the cubs she hunted during her prime.

Had one set her sights on me once, she was probably in her 80's I was in my late 40's and still could run fast enough!!! :D

A few years back, one was hunting me in a bar. At least she thouht she was a cougar. I was 22 at the time and she tried talking to me about he 30 year old son. I lied and told her I was in a relationship with a friend I came with. I gave the friend a prearranged signal that was intended to tell me to pretend to be her boyfriend in case some guy in there wouldn't leave her alone. She was surprised that the signal was used backwards, but played her part well and saved me. Ever since, the signal is arrangd to work both ways.

the important thing is to be able to distinguish between a cougar and a maneater

YEP! That's the thing about cougars....they rarely ever realize they can be hunted back.:bigsmyl2:

With these last couple posts, next thing we will be seeing is someone saying that there's no closed season and no bag limit, and getting some young inexperienced hunter in trouble.

No bag, or double-bag. Only you can decide.
