Post war pre 10 S&W 38 spl.

Appears to be a m@pre 10 no mdl. #, yoke has A8, 345 40 stamp, sn#on butt is S 812891 some slight wear on muzzle,rest is tight as heck, no rust, looks like after market stag grips, is a 5 screw. Does have the plugged swivel hole

Any help? My dad knew these like a book, I am not so well read. Tia

Model 1905 Hand Ejector 4th Change, .38 Special Military & Police
S-prefix began 1945 at s/n S811120 to S99999.
1948 began C-prefix s/n. Safe to say yours was probably made in 1945.
In 1957 they became Model 10.

My favorite out of the 6-8 of those is a wide sight bladed m10-7 royal hong kong police gun 4" barrel.
