Had a few hours after supper tonight and threw together another idea I had.Looks like it will cut down 2880/hr .223 cases to be final trimmed for 300 blk.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD2tugzRnD0

You and I both, in my case I need to be concerned with power requirements. Living on solar has its draw backs..

I'm curious how parallel the cut is to the base. The case as we know is tapered and seems to have some wiggle room, unless it's compensated for.

Wow, what you can make in an hour took me 3 months.

I had to watch the video twice. That is inspired genius! It does take all the fun out of turning the case trimmer by hand though!

But you are rough cutting them then coming back with final forming and trimming.

But you are rough cutting them then coming back with final forming and trimming. To be honest I don't even own one but yes one would rough cut, size/form the 300 case then trim to final dimention.

It's a power window motor out of an '82 Ford F150 that I modified.

A great idea! Can you post a picture of the case once it is cut? I am curious how "rough" the cut is.

"Rough cut" is noting that is is cut on the long side, so there will be enough left to trim to exact dimension after sizing.

Once again, I'm in awe of the simplicity that never occurred to me. Nice job.

With his idea I have to stop and think a bit. The simplicity of the design to me is utter brilliance, but I would go for something that made precise cuts. When I do mine I get them all within .005 of each other and just trim them after forming. The trimmer is designed for lite trimming but I'm sure can handle removing more material but I never pushed it that hard.

I have most of what I need but metal stock isn't 1 of them, or a mill for that matter but I would come up with another piece that rides on the body to hold it still for precise cuts. Of course it would be more elaborate but it sure has my mind going after watching that video.

That is really cool. Wish I had the time to fabricate tools like that.

Hey JMorris, Very, Very clever. I am impressed.

What kind of cutter is mounted in the drill press?

It is a Cardinal slitting saw. I imagine they still make them but likely not in England anylonger.

And I spent literally MONTHS with a case trimmer making 1000 pcs. MONTHS. damn
