I came across a large stash of new 20 /12 gauge hulls. I also got about 1500 wads with deal. Does anyone have any past experience with using other wads in these hull?

Activ should be a straight wall case. All wads that are for straight wall should apply. Older lyman/Lee shotshell manuals should have info. All my info packed away for a move.

I'd love to have them if either of you want to dump 'em. Failing that, the trap commander wads work well using Federal hull load data. They are straight walled, plastic one piece innards and exactly the same internal volume as federal gold medals measured with water.

good find.
the active hulls are great for hunting loads and especially good for steel shot loads.
wads for the straight walled hulls will work best but I wouldn't hesitate to use the rem figure-8 wad either.

Hogtamer, thank you for the info. I have about 100 cases to play with.

ACTIVE are great hulls, I used to reload them many years ago. Great idea, ahead of their time, I do miss them.

I have about a 100 I have reloaded 6 times already. Still good for more reloads. I use a AA 1oz wad for trap loads.

My Lyman 4th edition has 5 pages of load data just for the 12 gauge and 2 pages of data for the 20. Let me know what primer, powder and shot load you want to use and I'll be happy to look up some choices. Pm me for faster response.....

I still have some Activ wads but have used Claybuster wads. The white figure 8 ones with 1 1/8 shot over 17 gr of red dot. Shoots great for me. Have also reduced red dot to 16.5 with all the same as above. When I still had some 473AA powder, I loaded 16.5 with the same components. Hopes this helps!!
