I have a Lever conversions in mind.

At this stage I am just pricing up. I don't know much about shank size and thread.

What shank size and thread would fit the following:

Winchester 1886
Marlin 1895

The 1886 or 1895 to 40-65!

Do any other copies fit Winchester models e.g. Chiappa, Rossi or Uberti?

So who make barrels that would suit any f the above rifles, especially the Marlin 1895 (A Winchester 1886 is hard to come by!)

Is this barrels suitable for fitting to a Marlin 1895?

green mountain come to mind right off, but you already got there.
I would order a blank and have the threads cut to the gun and the chambering done by the same person.
in other words I dunno either.

For the cost of a barrel AND having it turned by a competent smith, you could probably have it rebored and chambered by someone like JES reboring.

Marlin 1895 may be wanting on action length for 40-65 with some bullets. I know when in 45-70 heavier longer bullets wont feed through it. You could possibly have an 18886 in 45-70 lined and chambered to 40-65 also. Cartridge over all Length is going to be the determining factor.

A fiend has a nice little .40-65 built on a Winchester 1886 that used to be a .33 WCF. It's a very pleasant rifle to shoot.

.40-65 was a cal. avabale in the 86 winchester and the old 95 marlin. about the cheapest way would be to find a .45-70 and reline it. another option would be to find a .45-70 and convert it to take down. then you could make and add barrels as you want.
