Finally broke down & ordered a 1872 open top I'd wanted, picked it up on Friday afternoon. 5 1/2" bbl & navy grip. The 7 1/2" are back ordered 9 months. Shot a few in the backyard yesterday, very pleasant with a Lee 214 swc & red dot, oh ya, it's a 44 spl. Now need to make a holster to go with the belt I made over a year ago, lol. Any body got any Russian brass, looking in Mike V's book showed some BP loads. Guess it's time to order the Lee 200 rf that I've thought about since I traded into the 44 Vaquero a few years ago.

Between me being a puter dummy & our cameras not talking the same lingo as the laptops, don't see that happening. lol.

Congrats on the open top! One was on my "next to buy" list but I sort of got "way layed" and bought a Uberti Bisley instead.

Track of the Wolf usually carries 44 Russian but they show they are out of it right now - you may check with them though and see if they could give you an idea of when they expect it.

Enjoy that new open top - they are certainly a nice looking revolver - I think the 5 1/2" barrel in that model would be just about ideal.

Duke Nukem is having some financial issues right now, you might check with him for a holster

Don't forget 44 Colt brass works also. Also another fun thing to do is load a case of black, shove a felt wad down on top of the powder, drop in a pea size chunk of any greasy bp lube and then crimp a .433" round ball right past its middle. This will shoot to a lower P.O.A. if needed and while fast has very mild recoil.

Well, in that case, I am interested in what kind of holster you make for yourself, being a leather crafter myself.

The belt I have already made has 12 loops & a wreath & spoon buckle, it's antique mahogany with some border tooling 2.5" wide & 1.5" for the buckle halves. Also have done a matching sheath. Thinking a silm jim style would look best on this frame.
