I may be way behind the curve here (I usually am), but did anyone else notice that Winchester (the gun company, not the ammo company that never went out of business) is BACK IN BUSINESS?!?

Didn't know it until I saw American Rifleman TV tonight.

Here's the new website: http://www.winchesterguns.com/index.asp

No word on re-introduction of lever-guns, but one could hope.......

I don't know what caliber the M70's will start in but you can bet on the '06. I'd think the lineup would be very similar to what it was in 2005 or 2006.

The M94's are supposed to be back out in '09 as I understand it.

The Winchester gun business is owned by a Belgian firm, Hertzal or something
close to that, and they also own Browning, FN and a couple others. They just
couldn't deal with the union in the original Winchester plant and shut it down
and moved production to SC where they are non union. They never actually
went out of business, just stopped making Win 70s and M94s. M70s are back
(never actually stopped, you could buy the FN police rifle right along and it is/was
a M70 in reality) and I suspect that the M94s will be back at some point.

I had trouble with a 1886 Extra Lite a while back and the local Win repair station
said that I could send it back but it would take almost a year to get back from
Belgium. It had the (no doubt desired) effect of making be totally uninterested
in sending it in for repair. The side effect is that I will never buy a Winchester
new again under any circumstances.

30-06 and then 94's in 30-30. Has to be, it's a law of nature or something...:-D
