Does any one have a copy of Supica & Nahas? I recently purchased a Model 10, actually I think it's a pre-Model 10, M & P. From what I can glean from various internet searches it was made after '48, (serial number is C 381537); it has a 'pencil' barrel, and is a four screw (three on the sideplate, one forward of the trigger guard). It also has the 'half moon' front sight, which one source claims was changed in '52??? (everyone seems to agree that the "C" prefix started in '48). Thanks in advance for any assistance. BTW it's in near perfect condition, real tight, slight bluing wear at the muzzle but that's about it. I can hardly wait for it to get warm enough to shoot it [smilie=1:!

According to Supica's book your Model 10 (M&P pre-10) serial number range is: 1954-1956 DOM. And, the M&P Pre-10 went from 5 screw to 4 screw in 1955 so chances are good your gun was made 1955-56.
The "C" prefix serial ran beginning 1948 and ending in 1967.

Hard to beat them.... fun to shoot!
