First off if this has been discused please send me the link, I've looked everywhere. Here's what I am trying to accomplish: I have a H&R handi rifle with a 1 in 9 twist(I think). I'm wanting to make a cast bullet load that will give me a round that is quiet and super cheap to shoot but also minute of squrriel accurate. I know I can go buy a 22 mag or hornet but If I can cast my own bullets and down load them It would be cheaper for me. I'm looking at the 22 bator mold and wondering if I could get them in and around 1400 to 1600 1) if I would still need to gas check them and 2) would they even stabilize at this slow of a speed. Powder is kind of hard to find in Indiana right now, I have unique, 2400 and imr 7625 to work with. Any advice would be great, of the 22 bator mold/bullet in general, is it worth buying and putting time in to, to have a plinking round at say 50 yards?

I use the bator for mouse fart loads in my .22 Hornet and .223 Handis. A touch of Unique is all it takes. Don't bother with the gas check. The Hornet also likes primer only loads with a .22 cal pellet.
