My 38's came. The 1944 dates are cosmetically nice. The 42 and 43 dinged up. I cleaned the barrels.

Now, how do i evaluate the true condition of these rifles?

Slug the bores. Handload for them. Shoot them with the handloads you built up. Measure the groups. That'll tell you where the body is buried.

BTW, on the surplus boards, there is information available on accurizing these rifles and I've found they do respond well to trigger adjustments and barrel free floating. If you have a lathe and the bore isn't counter bored, you can crown the muzzle to insure uniformity as well. I've done this with a couple of mine with excellent results.
