To Start lots of information here

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?3558-7-62x51-NATO-%28-308-WCF%29-in-the-Springfield-M1A

Also Im a believer in the RPM threshold so know your barrel twist

so in most cases a 170 to a 220g lead bullet will work the best

make at least 5 dummy rounds and see of they will load from the mag (before you put powder in) have no rifling engagement !!!!!!!!!!!! on those rounds

trial and error with the above as a guide

Don't load too many at a time as all of us have had to pull some at one time or another

Some people have had better luck with a dacron filler [smilie=s:

Lots of people here have done most of the foot work -- Hats off to them:awesome:

Lots of us shoot cast in DI guns, tons of info on this site about it. AR-10, AR-15 and other gas operated semi-autos.

Lots of very good (probably the best) information in BruceB's thread;

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?3558-7-62x51-NATO-(-308-WCF)-in-the-Springfield-M1A

What applies to the M1a, M1 and other piston gas guns in .308W/7.62 will apply to your piston driven AR.
