1977 Islander 28' sailboat located in Marina Del Rey, Ca. Boat was involved in a fire. The keel is attached by 6 bolts, accessible from inside. You will not need to cut the keel off, just undo the bolts and drop it down. It was a very nice boat before the mechanic blew himself up, the keel bolts are not rusty. It is in a slip, in the water, you'll have to arrange transport, but I will tow anywhere in the marina. Please contact me if you're interested. Thought someone on here might want it, I'm an avid shooter and collector.

Thanks gents. Happy shooting.

This was posted on Calguns, too. If I had the resources I might be all over it, as I live less than 2 hours from where the boat sits. I just wonder if the lead is close to pure or if it could have nasty stuff in it that would make it not so great for casting.

It would be neat to get in on this but I don't have a trailer to transport such a large boat or a good place to get rid of it. I do have 20 years of construction experience and have demoed parts of buildings and am good with tools and fabrication. A tractor or heavy equipment and a trailer would be a plus for this. I wonder if the thing could go to a landfill in once piece.

At least I can dream....................and continue to pick bullets off the ground at the range, one or two big coffee cans at a time.

I have to guess calif will not allow the vessel to be cut up there? I could do a deal like that.

What would it cost to have it removed from the slip it is in, put on a trailer (sail boat trailer) and towed some place where you can work on it? And the cost disposal ?

It's a shame about the boat. I like those old Islanders, had a smaller one at Alameda. How'd he blow it up?

I would think alot of the fittings and fixtures could be salvaged. looks like a fiberglass hull. once it was on shore remove all of that and remove engine if it has one. remove as much unwanted weight as possible. cut up the hull into small enough pieces to take to landfill or recycler. salvage the chunk of lead, load it onto a flatbed utility trailer and take it to wherever you need to start melting it down.

me too if I can drive over from Arizona and pick it up and it's still about market rate after figuring in GAS

If I had a way to trailer it home it would be a done deal

Wish I would have knownsome others might of gone in on this. I talked to him and it went to scrap for free and im close to this marina. He said for me to come get it I had a full size diesel truck to pull it but no trailer or place to tear it apart. Sad so sad. Sad because I am sure it all went to scrap.
