Hey Folks,

Pardon my ignorance (don't flame me  ), but I have a quick question regarding melting down some old lead fishing weights. Found a few pounds of them. They are the ones with the brass eyelets molded in. Planning to melt & flux them for ingots. Safe to say the brass can be scooped out with a perforated spoon once the lead melts? Any worry about the brass melting? All my scrap lead thus far has not had anything but lead, so I just melt flux, repeat etc.... Thanks in advance!

Be well all...

They'll float on top so you can scoop them out.

No problems, just like you said, scoup 'em out after the lead alloy is melted.

Brass melts at almost 1000 degrees hotter than lead.

You'll be fine.

Take care and thanks again
