Why does Lee not make six cavity rifle molds in their standard bullet designs?

I like the lee 30 caliber 150 grain and 170 FP bullets, and at my age I don't have time to fool around with a 2 cavity mold when my time cold better be spent loading and shooting...

Swede Nelson (NOE) makes some nice 4 cavity moulds. http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=366&osCsid=fj3bpdsa3al70u3m4qk5hl9of1 for a lot less money than a Saeco http://www.midwayusa.com/product/129970/saeco-4-cavity-bullet-mold-316-30-caliber-309-diameter-150-grain-flat-nose-gas-check?cm_vc=ProductFinding . You are right about the lack of boolit moulds in that weight in a 6 cavity. LEE does make a 30 calibre 6 cavity, but it is only 93gr. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/254640/lee-6-cavity-bullet-mold-311-93-1r-32-20-wcf-32-s-and-w-long-32-colt-311-diameter-93-grain-1-ogive-radius?cm_vc=ProductFinding

No worries, that just means less Lee molds in my collection, keeps my stress levels in check

Use 2 molds, while one is cooling pour into the other one. You will be surprised how fast the boolits pile up!

I have used 2 six cavity NOE molds and the bullets do pile up quickly

I have and they emailed me and said that they are too long for their 6 cavity mold blocks.

There may be a solution if lee could somehow source another supply of slightly larger mold blocks.
The lee 130 grain 30 caliber bullet is a gem, a six cavity mold for this one would certainly fit the blocks they now use...

So then why doesn't Lee make 20 gauge slug molds? When I emailed them and asked them that the response I got was that there wasn't enough interest....

The folks that modify this mold also make it in plain base and and a c312-155 six banger. I have the plain base clone of the 311041 and am getting loads worked up for it.

They also have a six cavity .22 Bator mold available: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEE-22-BATOR-COMMERCIAL-6-CAVITY-BULLET-MOLD/271587899580?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D66251b572fe5420abdb d878d57f2fd91%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D2013100313242 0%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121272233148&rt=nc

Odd, as I have several custom LEE 6 cavity molds in .30 cal that weigh over 170 grains..

They did custom runs for the set up fee of $100 + a set number of molds. They don't want to change their mold block size. If your time is too valuable you can always buy bullets or goo to someone else like NOE or another custom maker.

I got one of Ranchdog's 165 grain FPs for the .30-30 and it was made on the Lee six cavity blocks. Works like a champ, good mold and I had sworn off Lee molds until that one. I like Lee's six cavities, there are several I wish they made in six hole configuration.

I bought both the 311041 and the C312-155-2R and they both rain boolits as easily as my NOE molds. Not quite as robust, and I may get some steel sprue plates for them one day, but fantastic values none the less. I did pay significantly less for the 311041 when they first posted them on ebay though. They put some up on auction and I think I got mine for around $45 plus shipping. I also have a couple +400 gr. .460" molds and the boolit cavities are enormous and barely fit in the blocks. Real easy to overheat them but they do fit and work well.

Most people do not need tons of rifle boolits. That's probably why. Making them 2 at a time, I can crank out 150 pretty darned fast. That is way more 30's than I can ever shoot at one time! Same thing with the plastic holders that only hold 20 carts? All my pistol ones are 50's and 100's.

6 bangers crank out pistol boolits real fast and most people go thru those MUCH faster.....and they are faster and easier to load than rifle.

2 banger molds are just fine for the average rifle loader/shooter. If you want more holes, look at NOE and get yer wallet out.

I wanna know why Lee doesn't make a 147ish grain 9mm bullet for the action shooters...really want a 6 cavity one but don't wanna pay a fortune for a custom mold. So my 358-125-RF which casts about 130 will have to do for now.

Does Lee still make a .357 140 gr. SWC in six cavity? I have an old one and it drops .358 bullets that work in a couple of my 9s. That nose shape will not work at any COAL in my Hi-Power, but does fine in a Beretta and a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for my Glock 19.

Yes
90308 two cavity
90307 six cavity

As noted there are 6 cavity rifle bullet molds out there. I have one, the Ranch Dog 165 grain TL 311 from the last group buy

I bought a 5 cavity NOE for just a few dollars more. I might consider the Lee if I didn't know about NOE, but for just a few dollars more there's not much of a comparison in value between the two.
