paper patching for the 32-20 ... novel idea or considered too small in every respect?

i aim to order a barrel for my single shot rifle { no it is not anything old nor resembling anything old } in 32-20 but ... i will stipulate it be actual 30-20 with a faster 12 twist or maybe 14. i want to shoot heavy boolits for cal and nice n slow and quiet as well as accurate. black powder will be tried so thought id start here for some ideas and experience with the 32-20 X .308.

I don't think it's going to be a problem Ted. I'm going to order a PP mould for my .32-40 schuetzen rifle next week. I've had excellent results with patching for .38's and I suspect that .32's will work well too.

The only difficulty I think will be trying to patch those tiny bullets.

Chris.

I tried patching some 100g bullets that were originally intended (I guess) for the .30 carbine. It worked fine but I was shooting a marlin lever action with iron sights so I cannot say if I improved accuracy. The limiting factor was me. It wasn't too bad to roll just using fingers.

cool ... thanks for the replies. i will be going for a 150 grain + boolit for the 32 ... er 30-20 so they may be just a little kinder on my fingers. could try a cigarette roller i guess as they should be just about the same diameter.

i wonder if trying bore diameter would be best in the smaller diameter boolits? maybe just stick with the groove diameter ... what do you think?

In all honesty, my pp effort on the 32-20 wasn't too sophisticated. I don't actually know what my bore diameter is. I just tried it and it worked. In my 9.3, I do have bore diameter to bore dia-.002" (ie .360 and .358) slugs that I patch up and slightly size back to groove or slightly over. I do a similar thing with .30-30 and .308.
