it is time...
for the .404
450gr Woody with 78gr 2209, 400gr Bertram with 80 gr 2209
Am most interested in how the 340gr 'Von Gruff ' GC,cast bullets from a Hoch mould ( with 24-26 gr ladder loads of Blue Dot for 1400-1500fps) will perform.
While they have a definite provenance with Von G 'sl oad of 20 gr of red Dot, I am trying Blue Dot because I seem to have stockpiled 2 kgs of it, and 2209 (4350) is not the easiest to find.

Just do a search for ".404", and numerous "hits" will show up.

I've had good results with the NEI 421-390 cast bullet in a Cogswell and Harrison .404 Mauser.

In form and in weight, it makes a very close duplicate of the Kynoch factory 400-grain bullets.

I have been following your posts on the .404 most closely,Bruce.
Thanks for a whole bunch of information. I will post up results as and when we have a sunny day day with time at the paddock.
Cheers

Very Nice! Might give some thought to H4895 or Varget under that Von Gruff bullet. I know powder is hard to get these days though. Sure wouldn't pass any up if I saw some. Kep us posted on how it does please.

So happy days and the sun are here, I have varget (2208) and have loaded some 400gr Bertram SN with 72gr, hopefully, if this weekend pans out...
