Had the 7-08 out the other day and was looking at reloading data from 1989 and decided to give 4759 another go. Rifle is built on an FN commercial action with a Douglas air gage barrel. 19 grains seems to do the trick although I will try and tweak the load a bit, if possible. 10 rounds @ 100 yards = 1.255" center to center with 8 rounds going into .892 ". Boolits were water quenched and weighed in @ 148 grains.

Very nice group!
I am 7mm caliber fan. I have a Browning BLR and a Rem Model Seven in that caliber and then I have the TC 7-30W 14" and 21" barrels. All are great shooters. I do have the same RCBS bullet mold but for some reason, my boolits drops at 161gr lubbed and GC'ed. I have not found the right load combination with that boolit yet but I have accidentally found great loads with the 7mm Soup Can (Lee).
I will continue to try though. What velocities are you getting with your load?

My RCBS 145gr sil mould drops a nose dia too large to be used in my grand sons Rem 7/08 short throat.

How big is your nose, if I might ask? I recently nose-sized some RCBS 145-SIL boolits using a .277 H&I die, and they all fit into the muzzle of my 7-30 Waters up to the first drive band.

114781114780I have not got around to chronographing the load yet. Rifle was built with a minimum spec chamber by a smith named Barry Brown who primarily worked on Contenders for IMSHA shooters. Boolits are sized to .286" and nose goes .278". I'm not trying to load through a magazine and use an overall length of 2.909" which soft seats the nose into the bore.

Verygood. My 308 with 22 grains of 4759 and RCBS 165 Sil bullet travels about 2000 fps, see picture.

Thanks for the heads up on the 308. I'll have to try your load, as I also cast the 165 Silh. I've not played very much with it..It's got the 5R barrel on it.

Nice groups!
I wish I could find 4759 powder to try it out.
