Some years ago I purchased from a gunshop owner who was going out of business a Lyman single cavity .45 ACP hollowpoint mould with the following printed on the right side: Lyman 452374EV and beneath that the number 242 and below that 1Z. On the left side: Lyman 1-99 and beneath that the number 242. Those numbers and letters represent something, but what? Can someone supply me with a bit of information?

I have never used this mould and it looks very good. Started to use it a few days ago but with the hollowpoint fixture it will not fit beneath my Lee bottom pour casting pot spout and base. Guess I will have to break out the old Lyman ladle in order to pour a few boolits. Big Boomer

Check this out http://bulletmoldblog.com/blog1/tag/lyman/

Sounds like the EV just refers to the cherry but doesn't tell anything about the mold. As far as I can tell its a 180gr HP as listed on Lyman's site.

Oh, and I think you have asked this before but may have misplaced the info lol

Go here for a picture and weight of the boolit. Somewhere on this site is a list of terms Lyman used with the mold numbers but I don't recall where I saw it.

Thanks Petroid: you are right ... I obviously did ask that question before but forgot. At my age (going on 75) this is happening more often. Big Boomer
