I am new to casting and looking for a couple molds and was unable to find any other bullet molds in the price range of lees. Are there any out there?

New prices ? ...NOPE.

Sometimes you can find a good used mold for a very good price.

The only moulds that are priced lower than new Lee moulds may be used Lee moulds.

Lee Precision molds do hold their value.

You'll be happier if you buy quality and quantity first. Two cavity lee molds are OK at best. Noe aluminum molds ARE much better and worth the investment.

Lyman, RCBS, and Redding are good production molds, there's alot of excellent custom mold makers, Mountain molds, LBT, NOE, Accurate, Mihec, CBE, etc. I own their molds and endorse all these outfits, Lee not so much.

Do your measuring. Do your slugging. Read the stickies.and make sure of ALL your measurements. Then buy the mold you need. Some companies will make you the exact mold you need. Some will come close. NOE does it for me. Better to have one, two cavity, that works, as a first mold than three that don't.

sgraham3,

I am not rich but I can afford any mold I want.

I have four Lyman's, One Saeco, two H&G, and one Ballisti-cast.

and

14 Lee's.

Do not miss out on the fun of casting and reloading because you "heard" lee molds are not any good.

The others are significantly better made but they DO NOT make better bullets.

While not exactly a production mold maker, A.C.E. is next up the price scale offering $55 molds for group buys.Robert

Starting out, I would suggest getting a Lee or two in the cal's you want to get you into casting! You can later sell them on here as they hold their value.

Saving up for some of those expensive ones just delays all the fun and learning experience!

Go for Lee and then upgrade once you get the feeling of it.

Also consider this. If lee molds are such junk then why are half the mold makers using their mold blocks, and the other half of the mold makers copying their designs? Why is it Lee is one of the few mold makers whose bullets I can use as cast without investing in tons of resizing equipment?

Lee molds are GOOD molds no matter what anybody says. And as for cavities I agree. 2 cavity molds work. 1 cavity molds are better IMHO. The difference is that I want consistent bullets not 18 similar bullets dropping at a time.

Go with Lee. Why not learn on a inexpensive well made mold?

I seem to have one lee does not make a mold for, 35 rem. That's why I was seeing if there were any other makers that were not as pricey.
