Today I went shooting with " Armoredman " down south of me in Casa Grande.
I was shooting my Savage 10 Tactical in .308.
I was shooting the Lee 155 gr - .312, sized to .309 with a Gas Check cast out of Lyman #2 lead.
The powder load was 20 gr of 2400.
I was getting consistant 3/4" groups at 100 yards off a Bi Pod.
I also was shooting the same load at a 16" steel Gong at 600 Yards and hitting it with a 12 Foot hold over.
I didn't want to readjust the scope's elevation since I hardly ever shoot at that distance.
But I was hitting the Gong all the same.

The same bullet loaded with 21 gr of 2400 was grouping 1.5" at 100 yards.
The scope on the rifle is a Leupold 3x9 with tactical knobs.

I don't remember Casa Grande range having 600 yard gong - is this the city range off Isom?

As ugly as that little bullet is, and it sure won't win any beauty prizes, it shoots well in all of my 30's, mostly over various loads of 2400. It is probably the most accurate bullet I have found for my Swiss!

The public range off Turkel on the Main 300 yard range has a 16" gong set up on the hillside to the right.
People with rangefinders said it is a Tick over 600 yards.
To gage my bullet drop , I was putting the Horizontal crosshair of my scope on the Top of the Saguaro Cactus up the hill to the right of the gong, and the vertical crosshair right down the center of the gong.

For the Jacketed bullets I was shooting.
150 Hornady, with 40 grains of IMR-4895
I was using the bottom of the lower arm on the Saguaro Cactus to the left of the gong just up the hill, and the vertical crosshair dead center of the gong.

I just got this mold and have used it for my Argentine. It works well at 100 yards or less. My range is only 100 yards, so I'll have to go up into the woods to try anything longer. But it does work well in 7.65 x 53.

I like the bullet too, and shoot it in all of my 30 calibers sized to .309, and in my SKS , 7.62x54 Mosin Nagants, the .303 British all sized either .311 or .312
I am Pan lubing them and using the Lee Size All sizer die.
The bullet is a little light for it, but I was going to try Paper Patching some of them for my 8mm Mausers.
I do have a bunch of different molds for all my rifles, but I try to maximize my options out of each mold.
It keeps me from getting board.

Sounds good, what was your lube?

I just used plain old Lyman Orange Magic.
It doesnt look like there was any leading, and at the speed I was pushing the bullets, I wasn't expecting any either.
I am going to do some further testing with this bullet in the .308, but mostly use it in my Mosin Nagants.

That 155 gr. Lee is kinda the 'ugly Betty' of cast boolits...not too pretty but does just about everything well. I've actually got two of those moulds; one lapped out to drop .315/.316 for my 91/30 and my Argies and another left 'stock' (after cleaning and deburring) for my .308, .30-30 bolt gun, and SRs. Don't recall ever trying it at 300M (longest distance available on our club range) but, at 200M, it's not a difficult challenge to tag the 12" swinger using any of the milsurps with issue sights.

That boolit is a winner in my .308 as well. SR4759 works best for me

"Turkel" or "TREKELL"?

Thank you for the spelling correction.
I just know how to get there to meet up with Armoredman for a day if shooting.
It is a long drive in the morning from East Mesa.

When I picked up that 308 Remington on sale last fall on a whim. I couldn't believe the accuracy of that Lee boolit and 19.4 gr of 2400. It still amazes me.

Sounds like one accurate boolit to me regardless of what it looks like....good shooting LAGS!

The boolit is accurate, but VERY load sensetive.
The Sweet spot for each of my rifles is with in a half a grain of powder on each different rifle.
And each rifle reaches the sweet spot with a different powder.

Great little bullet. Works in my sks, Rossi 7.62x39 single shot, a Krag, and 5 different 03/03A3's. I wish I had a nice mehanite 2 or 4 cavity in it.
