Finally got time to try the Lee 312-155 boolits in my DPMS 16" 300 Blk.
Cast from COWW + foundry type, BHN 14.0
Sized 0.310", Blue Angel lube, COAL 1.973", LC brass, Rem 7 1/2
1,907 FPS, Sd 19.02
One 3 shot group of 1 5/8" and one of 1.025" at 100 yards.
Took a bit to get the Leupold sighted in (operator error) and verify the tracking.
Rifle functioned perfect and the C/L barrel wiped clean with 3 dry patches!

It sounds like its workin! What powder and charge? Barrel twist?
Mine averaged 1919fps from a 16" over 15.8gr H110 and seated to 2.050".

H110/16.0 gr. & 1:7 twist barrel. I have no interest in subsonic and wanted the rifle for hunting.
Have only shot about 50 Hornady 150 FMJ & about 25 Nosler 125 BT previously.

The paper target holes were very round and usually a decent grouping. Don't have plans for much beyond 200 yards but need to see how the groups look there. Yes, we have plenty of deer in SW VA and I have neighbors that have seen the wild hogs within 20 miles of our farm! Given the damage people say the hogs do, I hate to see them get here but I will certainly take advantage of the new 'targets'.

I am about 40 air miles north of the NC/VA line. I have heard wild hogs are in the Bland, VA, about 40 miles east of me, and north of Lebanon, VA, just 20 miles to my west! Actually, I just came back upstairs from starting about 200 rounds of this load. I already have a lot of brass prepped, ready to load. I had only loaded 30 until I got time to shoot them.
I have a Leupold 3-9 x 40 VX-R CDS scope mounted and may have a custom elevation dial cut for this load. Got other rifles setup and capable of long range shooting, but it looks like this AR may be a lot of fun!

You can swage a flat point when sizing if you use a flat top punch. I did just that and took a deer last fall with it. Not a lot of expansion but better than a pointed design. Watch so you don't expand the nose diameter too much and cause chambering issues.

This week, I cast almost 1,000 of the Lyman 311041, 173 FPGC. I certainly will try those in the 300 Blk. I also borrowed a HM2-311-160-5 (I think this is just a FP of the Lee 312-155) from my son and have a run of those ready to size. I have read that the M4 ramps don't feed the FP design well, will just have to try both & see.

Run the Hm2 mold and see how it does. I am going to look for a 8-9" 1x7" 300BO barrel tomorrow at the show. I have a couple of different 230gn molds to try out when I get it built.
