Does anyone know what the max. load of unique is with a 280 gr. 358009 boolit in 35 whelen?

My lyman manuals show loads for a 200 gr. boolit with unique, but nothing bigger.
I already have used it up to 14 gr. with the 280 gr. and will work up slow, but it would be good to KNOW what the max is.
I think the info is in one of the older lyman manuals that i don't have, or at least i have heard it was, and thought maybe someone out there had that manual.
I have the info on several other powders for this boolit, but not the unique info. One thing i do know is 12 gr. of unique shoots great with this boolit!

Thanks for any help!

No joy in the 45th, 48th or 49th editions. 12 grs sounds pretty reasonable, suspect you'll encounter diminishing returns before pressure issues.

LOL those are the very ones i have. I "think" it's in the 47th.
I think your right about the returns, as it didn't do as well with 13 and 14 gr.
Thanks for trying to find it though![smilie=s:

It's not listed in the 47th or the Cast Bullet Handbook#3.

Thanks for looking yodog. I found some info online someone had listed on the 358009 from a older lyman manual supposedly. They listed info on several powders, but not unique.
I've done a search on here before but only found very light loads listed. If nothing else, i've got a good small game and target load with it.

This probably won't help but, I used 358477's, 150gr with 13gr unique before with decent results. I never did finish development. Foolin' around, I also used a 158gr Winchester hollow point with 11gr unique with great results at 100 yards. That was it, I had a small game load. I never bothered further.

BTW, I went through all my saved articles on the 35 Whelen and found no references to using unique for reduced loads for 358009, lots of info on SR4759, as you already know.

Thanks yodogsandman. Unique has rarely worked out at max. for me in anything i've ever tried it in, but always shoots well somewhere in between.

BTW congrats on your new 358009 mould...lol i just saw it on another thread!

Thanks, been fist pumpin' in the air since! I'd almost given up! I've got to slow down, 7 more molds so far this year! Maybe just one more? Two?

Problem being the 35 Whelen was a wildcat back in the day--not much data being printed for wildcats back then.
