With deer season approaching I see that components are scarce and I lack enough bullets to practice with with my favorite bullet, the Rem. 200 gr roundnose. Thus cast bullets are needed.

Leverevolution powder seems nearly ideal for cast boolits as it is slow enough to fill the case yet it should yield relatively high velocity with a gentle push.

I'm going to test the 190 Ranch Dog, the venerable RCBS 200, and the Accurate Mold's 36-205B which has a huge metplat. The case can hold 42.7 gr of LVR under them without difficulty. I'm also trying some with 41.2 gr.

i don't have access to a chronograph but will let you know how accuracy goes. A neighbor young man is going on a Hunt of a Lifetime hunt for Alaskan moose and wants experience with rifles that kick more than a .22. He will do the testing.

Has as anyone tried LVR with cast?

I have tested LvR with cast in the 30-30 and the 7.62x39 extensively. Haven't gotten around to it yet in the 35 Rem yet but am going to with the RCBS 35-200-FN. n the other two cartridges it took a heavy cast bullet at close to max load density for LvR powder to burn efficiently. With such The 35 Rem should do very well.
