I know the 9.3x62 is a viable cartridge on what is essentially the 3006 case (a tad longer), but I was wondering if anyone has heard of a wildcat made on either of these two calibres using the 308 case?

There is not much shoulder to spare, but the the 308 has a larger diameter shoulder than the 3006 (.4539" as against .441" ) and what works on the 06' case, should work even better with the 308.

I have a Remington Police 7600 308Win with a spare barrel in 358Win. Just curious.

I would imagine the 358 Win improved would be close to your 9.3 wildcat, I do believe the 375 on and improved 308 shell would be cats meow. Are you getting a little clucky after seeing the 35 Mitchel Express in last months Shooter. I know old Ted well.

Ted's wildcat is based on the 8mm Mauser from memory. I was thinking that the 308 case would be better with the big bores, giving it's shape.

Not a big enough improvement over the 358 to be bothered about, but I have three 375H&Hs and was considering rebarrelling the Zastava M70 to 338Win Mag. That would give me a left over 375 barrel to play with.

I had better get the calipers out and measure up if suitable and how far I'd have to go to clean up the H&H chamber and if the barrel is meaty enough at that point.

It would be a thumper cartridge for my 7600!

There's a 375Reaper being worked on right now. I got it from another site and he's doing some testing on it now. It's a 308 case, shortened and necked down for the 375 and seems to have some impressive data so far. From what I can gather for right now it's for the AR platform.

The 9.3x57 is a very old German cartridge, and would be similar, although a few mm longer than a 9.3 cartridge based on a 308 case. It would be a very viable round. Rumor is Melvin Purvis used a 9.3x57 to send Pretty Boy Floyd to Oblivion, but that is debatable. In that case size I too think the 9.3 would offer little over the 358 winchester, except for the ability to shoot 286 grain pills.
