last week I visited the range to test out a 22LR and brought my Redhawk along, in case I felt the urge. I just love shooting that 41mag...probably even more so now that I can reload 41Mag for about the same price as "gouge" priced 22LR  :veryconfu :castmine:

Shot off-hand at 25 yards...good enough for me :)

And to top off the afternoon, the grounds were covered with 9's and 45's probably a couple hundred of easy pickin's

Then as I left, I found a few boxes in the trash, two of them were filled with 1x brass...38spl in the tray and 9's and more 38's in the other box. I felt like I was stealin' the stuff when I don't have to crawl on the ground to pick it up

^^^
as you can see, I got to pick up some range scrap...always fun. enough to fill my pockets:drinks:

As others have already said, what a beautiful handgun. Are those .41 wadcutters? Tell us more about them! My avatars is a 41 flattop by the way. Great photography too.

41 WC molds are kinda rare, so I had one custom made by Tom at Accurate Molds. This one is a 210 gr button nose.

Nice and a fun day. It is true Most big bores can be shot for a dime a shot, even my .500 JRH might reach 11 cents. I believe a .500 S&W made 13 cents.
Seems strange to not afford to shoot a .22 anymore.
When a kid I picked bottles for deposit and coat hangers to sell to dry cleaners, go buy .22's or BB's in penny packs, strip of 100 for a buck. Now you need to work for Obumber to afford to shoot.

Yes, I remember picking up/saving deposit bottles and buying .22 ammo. Mrs. Day (general store proprietor) would help me count it all out, and sometimes I would not have enough for long rifle, so order of the day was a box of shorts, Remington Lean-bore, in the green and red box. On a really good week, it would be long rifle and a birch beer.

Any more, I can load any pistol round way cheaper than .22, even 44 mag and 45 Colt. I do not consider the investment in casting equipment, as that is 'hobby' money, something to do during the winter. Lead, the way I get it, has no cost to speak of. Only cost is amortorizing the brass (negligible per shot) and powder and primer. When boolits have no out of pocket expense, shooting can be done pretty cheap. Feeding a .22 is a whole other story, any more.

It was a great life. i bought guns from the .22 to the .300 Weatherby when under 21. and got my first .44 through the mail. I bought most from Avon hardware on credit, much paper route money but the owner gave me the guns right away and I payed them off fast, no interest either.
I miss the real people I loved.
Can you imagine a kid in a gun shop today walking out with a .300 Weatherby?

You didn't say what your load is but I bet is downloaded for pleasure. As far as finding range brass, I was called a dumpster diver by my buddies that didn't load. Now they load and don't use that phase anymore.

Gorgeous! Love at first sight. 41 mag is a great caliber. And the Redhawk is a great platform for it.

Yep, while that speedloader works good with my mod 57 S&W...not so much with this Ruger. I brought it out to try it...that's how long it's been since this Ruger has been out of the safe.

The Load is written on the Box in the photo.

Love the 41 Mag. Have had a Freedom Arms Model 83 in 41 for many years now but had a S&W 657 years ago and let it get away. Last week in my store spoted a 6 incher in the consignment case at a good price. Hammer forged trigger and hammer. Took her home and shot it this past weekend. Shot better then me. Now my single action has a double action cousin.

Aint nothin better than shootin the 41 at my house. Freedom Arms 83 and a Smith and Wesson 657 power port. In my book it dont get much better than that. Al
