I Want to know if there is an inexpensive way to get into a Scout Scope for a Rossi 45 LC. I need help at my age, but not a lot. The gun is a real shooter and I want to do it Justice... Thanks

If your eyes aren't too bad yet you might consider putting a tang sight on the gun with an adjustable aperture. It's something to try before putting a scope on the gun. A lot depends on how your eyes are. You indicate that they aren't too bad yet so this might be a good option. Way cheaper than a scout scope and a lot more traditional. I'm 65 and I can shoot some pretty impressive groups with a tang sight on a good day. Just something to think about.....good luck.

You have a couple of options, for scoping a Rossi M92.

Look under the rear longleaf portion of your rifle's rear bbl sight - if your rifle is fairly recent, it should be drilled & tapped (D&T) there for a Rossi scout scope mount. (the holes usually are plugged with headless screws, like most other rifles are for scope bases)

If they're there, you can order the factory scope mount & any Weaver-type rings. (but AFAIK, octagon bbls don't have the prep)

OR

If they're not there - you can order the Rossi mount and have a gunsmith (not some AR parts-changer) D/T your bbl for it.

OR

"If" the rear bbl sight dovetail is approx 4" ahead of the front edge of the receiver, an XS LeverScout rail (also takes Weaver-type rings) intended for the Winchester 94 will fit.

The XS rail's fwd end is secured in the old rear bbl sight dovetail by a supplied adaptor; the rear of the XS rail is held by two 6-48 screws, for which two 6-48 holes need to be D&T'd in the top of the front receiver ring inline with the bore.

OR

You can order B-Square's "no gunsmithing" scope mount for the Rossi M92 - but it mounts the scope further to the rear than a scout rail (IDK if the scope's also offset from the bore):

FWIW, I've found a receiver peep sight often cures sighting ills that some folks think can only be done by using a scope - if your Rosi M92 has the bolt-top safety, www.stevesgunz (http://www.stevesgunz) makes/sells a drop-in safety replacement bolt peep sight that also functions as a safety via turning it.

Also, and receiver peep sight intended for a top-eject Winchester Model 94 will fit your Rossi M-92, but your rifle will need to be D/T'd (2 holes) for one.

If you decide to go with a peep sight, it's a great time to switch out the issue front sight blade with a much brighter fiber-optic bead (Brownell's, MidwayUSA, Williams Gun Sight Co, etc).

Not a fan of the Scout concept so any Winchester levergun I have wears peeps. Lots of good options for peeps for your rifle. Have you used a rifle with a "Scout" scope? With all due respect to the late, great Col Cooper I just don't get it.

Ditto the aperture sight approach. My tired eyes are old enough to draw Social Security now, and I still shoot swimmingly with aperture sights. I will confess to throwing a pair of 1x drug store reading glasses on to sharpen up the sight picture while retaining good target definition whenever I really want to knuckle down.

IMO it's sacrilege to mount any kind of scope on a little lever action carbine. It sort of wrecks the whole idea behind having a light, trim, easy to handle gun.

If it's D&T'd as Pietro said you can use a cheap pistol scope on it as I have done. My .357 carbine has a $50. BSA pistol scope and the Rossi mount for about $10. Works just fine. If your Rossi is the octagon barrel it is already D&T'd for a tang sight( check and see if the tang has 2 screws). If it's a round barrel carbine the scope mount screw holes are under the rear sight.

A Burris Fastfire II would be right at home and help out a lot. Not quite as obtrusive as a scope on a lever.

.

I would suggest the reprobate magazine tube be pinned at the forward hanger.
