I am in the process of having a 358 Winchester barrel made up for my 7600.

I have a few hundred jacketed bullets which I will use to run the barrel in and then will switch to mainly cast boolits. All of my 35 cal casting have been for 38Special and 357Mag so far and I have lots of moulds in 158Gn or lighter (and one 180Gn mould I think).

What moulds would you guys recommend?

I sort of remember a lot of good words being spoken about the 200Gn RCBS.

The RCBS 35-200 FN is the king of boolits for the 358 Win. I have the original RCBS mould and a 5 cav NOE version; I see no difference between them in performance. I cast them fairly hard (50/50 range scrap/lino), lube with Lars Carnauba Red and I've had excellent results with a number of powders. Varget, IMR 3031, H4895, 2400. My Savage Axis rebarreled with an E.R. Shaw "Magnum" 358 barrel and cut back to 20 inches has a 1-14 twist and shoots this boolit accurately in the 2200-2400 fps range.
If your 180 gr. mould is plain base it should shoot very accurately over 10 grains of Unique, if gas checked you can push it to the above speeds. It's a very forgiving caliber to load for.

A switch barrel on a 760? Many years ago I often thought of doing that as that was "the gun" in my childhood mennonite community for deer hunting.
If you do it let us know how it goes because it definetly is doable. Alot of folk simply do not know how accurate these guns can be. I simply don't care for their noise for deer hunting. Woe unto the person that tries to work them lightly, I was always told to pump it
like you wanna break it!

My interest in the 7600 was sparked again by a group of Aussies on FaceBook. I was then surfing the net, looking for something else to do with the 7600 and I found Lumley Arms. They make a high quality barrel extension which is the only part for the 7615 / 7600 Remington that big green refuses to sell. These make a switch barrel 7600/7615 a reality. I was mooing about thinking how am I going to import one of those into Australia as I started to write to them and ask if they have an Australian distributor. Not only do they have a distributor, they are made her in Sydney, about 150 miles away! Bingo!!

I then found a guy in South Australia who supplies the barrels (mostly with huge muzzle breaks, etc fitted haha! (not for me, a plain barrel will do thanks) fitted with the extension, ready to go. He comes highly recommended from the guys in the group, so I lashed out.

I am sorely tempted to get a long actioned 7600 in 270 or 3006 and get a barrel in 9.3x62 built up, but I think the 358Win will be enough fun for now.

The barrel and dies should arrive within the week. One of the guys on the FB group is sending me some boolits dropped from the 200GN LYman mould, but I think I will go with the RCBS one, unless the rifle just loves the Lyman boolits.

Lumley Arms also make some interesting stuff for the Rem 70o and Tikka T3 (the Tikkas have always been hugely popular in Australia).

My barrel arrived yesterday afternoon, but I'm sick at the moment and no range available until next Monday. In the meantime, I will clean and polish the barrel and try and form some cases from the once fired 308s that I have.

I am heading to Sydney today and might even let my head go and but some new 308 cases if they are not too expensive. I can't imagine I will find any 358Win cases. So looking forward to shooting it, but I couldn't pull an old woman off the pot I am so weak at the moment.

Still as sick as, but the project is crawling closer. Have the barrel, dies and picked up three pack of 50 Speer Hot-Cor Jacketed bullets yesterday (I am going to run it in on Jacketed and have some cast boolits off a friend to help me make a decision regarding a mould). 2x 220Gn FN and 1x 250Gn SPs. I have 2 packs of Hornady 180GnXTR bullets somewhere, but I can't find those. Hopefully, I will have enough oomph to get it going for Sunday's range session.

Didn't make the range session, been in and out of hospital for weeks. I made it to the garage today, couldn't find the Imperial Sizing stuff, but found a tube of RCBS Case Lube. Decapped 20 cases with the Lee decapping die, then carefully lubed the inside of the necks with a cotton bud as well as the neck and body and ran them through the FLS die. Oddly enough, it felt that the sizing was easier than I remember just FLS'ing 308 brass. 20 cases, all turned out perfect (apart from a slight step where the neck meets the shoulder, but that will fireform out).

That was about as much as I could handle for one day, so I packed it in. No rush, the range is closed for the big car races coming up (closed now, re open on the 8th October), so I'll keep picking at it until I get er done!
