I need to feed my Model 10 401WSL , I have been using a mold from a member here to cast up 410028s great large groove boolit.

But, i also would like to shoot some jacketed through it.

The heads need to be .4065 , I have a lot of Sierra Tournament 220gn .410 FPJ that may be candidates, if I can swage them down .

My questions :

How many stages of squeeze should I try? 1 thous at a time....?

Do you think a Star with custom dies and punches would be strong enough?

Or should I use LEE push through dies, custom cut/honed from smaller sizes?

Last one :

Anyone ever squeeze 41mag down for 401WSL before?

try the Lee push thru sizer dies as imo it will be your easiest and cheapest option... you should be able to go from .410 to .4065 in one step... use some Lanolin when you do this and it should work out fine...

I sized some hornady xtps down for my brother in a lee push through sizer at 0.4065" or so. One pass and done with a RCBS RC supreme. I do think the jackets spring back about a half thousandth or so. They shot just fine.

I used a 0.401 sizer lapped to WSL diameter.

I size bullets for my Winchester 1907 .351 WSL .357 bullets size to .351 in one step accuracy is good 1" at 50 yards with the Sierra 170 Gr JHC, this bullet is a bit to destructive on a deer but it stays together and exits.
Have you ever formed cases for your 401 WSL from 7.62 X 39 Russian they appear to have the same head size and type.
