I got my 1st Mountain Goat last Sunday on the Kenai Peninsula. Not with cast unfortunately. I carried my .300 Win mag due the extreme distances involved. Downed a nice billy that F&G aged at 8 years old which I'm told is above average. The meat tastes similar to venison, but a bit tough, so it all got ground. My legs still ache from that crazy hike.

Good goat, what was the range that you took the shot?

Good going. The only mountain goat I have ate from around here, was not very good eating. I really should put in for a tag before I get too old to do it.

What a beautiful area. I need to find a way to make it up to Alaska sometime.

It's definitely a young man's game. My legs still hurt. I got the meat in ice as soon as I could and was pleased it retained a good flavor.
