Hey guys,
I slugged the barrel of my glock, actually a lone wolf barrel. It a .40 and it miced .4020. I don't see a .403 die anywhere on the amazon.com lyman stuff, the next size I see is .410.....help please!

Also to confirm,
I slugged my 300 aac and got .3093, so .311 right?

Thanks in advance

.310 would be also fine for the 300 aac, and you may have an easier time seating and crimping.

As for the .403, you can open up a smaller die with sandpaper, a dowel and a drill, or you can send one to Buckshot on this board and he'll do it for you.

Use the search function and search how to open up a sizing die. I was apprehensive to do it my first time but it really is pretty easy.

What are you slugging the bore with and what are you measuring with would be my first questions. I ask because the .402" groove diameter on a lonewolf barrel is pretty large.

.402" ? Are Ya sure? Perhaps you used a caliper instead of a micrometer? My LW and OE Glock barrel both do very well with .401" boolits.

I measured with a brown and sharpe one inch micrometer. I used the rotometals cerrosafe stuff for the cast. Waited an hour to the minute. Maybe I should redo it, Im no expert on the micrometer measuring, learned off youtube today actually

I thought I needed .001 oversized? 310 would give .0007 is that close enough to .001

Usually. It depends on factors like boolit jump, how big the nose is, and other factors, but the key point about .001" oversized is really avoiding any kind of undersized. If you have a boolit that "falls through" the sizer too easily, cull it.

If you decide you want a .403 die, Lee will make you one for a reasonable price.

If you don't want a Lee die, there are several members here that make custom sizing dies.

Since your .40 bbl's are removable it makes it really easy to slug the throat, that's where the bullet starts it trip from and it needs a good tight fit in the throat, same with your 300 acc.

Buckshot made me a .433 H&I for a Lyman 450 dead on .433 for little more than a std sizer

Im using the NOE 247 gr .311 mold. Does that have an effect on the factors you mentioned?

Maybe! No one can tell you what will work best for your combination.
