So I've only just discovered SR4759 a few months ago. Wow! This stuff is awesome! .308, 30-30, 45-75, etc...
I had bought a pound from my LGS after reading about the powder here. It worked so well I found an 8lb jug at powder valley that I still have not opened. I was able to purchase another 8lb jug tonight off the web. 16 pounds might not be a lifetime supply, but it will keep me shooting this great powder for years to come. Too bad they are not going to be making this one anymore.

P.S. Butch's reloading was the site if anyone cares to pick some up.

Out of stock now at Butch's reloading. I got some surplus at Jeff Bartletts last week. He's out now, too

It's going to be missed by those that are used to it for sure. I'm down to maybe 5 pounds myself and my 35 whelen loves it in reduced loads with a filler.
16 pounds should last you quite a while.

I just today loaded my first loads with SR4759.

I discovered that this powder bridged badly in the RCBS UniFlow Powder Measure. Anyone else have this happen?

It worked well in the Lee Perfect Powder Measure.

Loaded .45/70 with the MP 46.-122-HP and 25 g with Dacron filler. Now when I get to the range I'll see how it works.

I use an RCBS Charge Master 1500 so the big kernels of powder are no big deal to me. I've also had good luck with Dacron filler
and this powder.

I've also had very good results using 4759 over many years. I was down to a couple of pounds when I heard of its discontinuance and purchased an 8 lb. jug.

However, I've been doing some comparison work lately using 4759 and 5744 in four rifles, two in .30-06 and two .308s. Using wheelweight bullets of around 200 grains
at velocities in the 1,650 - 1,700 fps range, I've gotten good accuracy using both powders, though 4759 has shown a very slight edge over 5744. I suspect minor
load adjustment may eliminate that edge.

5744 is on my list of powders to try as well.

As I recall Dupont discontinued SR4759 a couple times in the past. It was brought back by demand. Whether the powers that be at Hodgdon will do that is anyone's guess. They seem to think since (quoting from memory) "there are other powders available in that burning range such as Trail Boss" and with that we all will be happy to use something else. I have numerous loads that are excellent tried, true and consistent from lot to lot of powder using 4759 that I've spent lots of time, money and effort testing over the years (22 Hornet to 45-70). If Hodgdon thinks I will switch to Trail Boss because they think it works as good (it doesn't in many applications) and that they charge more for Trail Boss is not good business sense. Doubt they'll miss my business buying 4759 or Trail Boss or any other Hodgdon powders but I'll be using different makes of powders in the future. Might as well use another manufacturer's if I've got to develop loads all over again...........

I said: Now when I get to the range I'll see how it works.
Well I made it this afternoon. 10 rounds velocity (15 ft to screen) 1462.9 FPS average.

Thanks for the offer. A cold beer and chewing the fat about cast and guns sounds great. Kinda long drive though!!! :)

I was down to about 5 pounds when I saw it available at Powder Valley so I got another 8 pounds. Then I heard it was to be discontinued. Again. I grabbed another 8 pounds so I now have over 20. I use this in a wide range of cartridges that I'm not trying to push the velocity envelope and for me it's about the greatest thing since butter on pop corn. It's not friendly to powder measures though and this powder is the reason I got the RCBS Charge Master.

I just bought the RCBS match powder measure earlier this year. With its mid sized powder chamber, it's optimized for mid level powder weights and throws SR 4759 very accurately in the charge weights associated with 4759. With it I don't have to weigh the charges like I did with my Redding measure. While the Redding is of super quality and now in service with me since 1967, it never has liked 4759 due to its larger powder chamber.

I too am a 4759 fan and bought an #8 jug a couple of days ago.
I did recently try Alliant's 300 MP in a couple of rifles and my Ruger SBH Hunter in 41 mag. It is awesome and measures great. highest velocity (1550 fps) with the 220gr TC GC in the 41 mag with excellent accuracy. The MN 91/30 is shooting under 1" at 100 yards with the 314299.

My other jug of 4759 showed up yesterday. I'll have to try the 300 MP if I ever run across any.

Jeff at gibrass has (or maybe "had" by now) some from two different sources.

I'll miss it too. The last few years, I've spent a lot of time finding useful loads for it in my milsurps. I found that 86%-87% of max loads published usually get my 170-200 grain boolits on the mark. Now I have to start over. Trying 5744 and 3031.
