I got a fair deal on some federal brass , but the brass has a sleeve or ring in the primer cup this catches the primer edge and destroys it so I use a hand held lee chamfer tool to make a slight angle in the primer hole to ease the new primer in , this is done by hand and after a hundred my hands get sore , not to mention it is a pain in the ****... what have others done to solve this problem , its too big to put in my drill press...

I use a countersink like this in a drill, just takes a touch and you are done

Or you can use the RCBS Primer Pocket Swage,
BUT you have to set it up correctly and they can be tricky

BoB: go with the countersink. What you are experiencing is probably military brass that had the primers crimped in.

It is common to all Military ammo. all you have to do is hit it on a turning countersink for a second or so. Just enough to remove the ring around the primer pocket.

There are other ways but this is the cheapest and quickest way to solve your problem.

Cheap one $1.99 at Harbor Frieght

Or be a big spender at $4.99

or buy a real Forster tool

In addition to Forster, Lyman and Hornady make the proper tool. Redding and Sinclair, too, most likely.

Thought the cases were military too. Seems they might be lead free primers, scrapped rather than fool around. Tried the lee chamfering tool and primer pocket still too small on the 40 S&W cases I was loading. Some were Win and Fed NT on headstamp. Just my recent findings. Afish4570

1/4" drill bit in a cordless screw driver and a practiced touch have been removing primer crimps for me for over 20 years.

This is what I use for removing military crimp when converting 300blk brass as it cuts very easily when powered with a cordless drill. http://www.mcmaster.com/#countersinks/=t8xkk9

I have buckets of 9mm and 40S&W brass that are crimped but I don't use them as it is pita to remove the crimp. I get enough commercial brass at my local indoor range for free so I don't bother with removing crimp. I just sort through the brass and any crimped ones are added to the collection.
