I managed to get a few pounds of Hodgdons CFE pistol last weekend and loaded some test rounds in my 9mm and 38 special.
After running about 100 or so through the 9mm and about an equal amount through the revolver, I can say that the powder produces good accuracy, very little smoke, and very little fouling in my guns.
The 38 you can barely tell it has been shot with no flakes of unburnt powder in the barrel at all and only very light powder residue on the cylinder. Much less than my usual powder.
The 9mm was showing a slight bit of powder residue in the barrel, but it all came out with a single dry patch.
I ran the loads over the chronograph and they duplicated the velocity results on the Hodgdon web site. Extreme spreads on the 9mm were good(under 40 for 4 different loads) and with the 38 they were a bit wider(50-70 for 4 different loads) but it didn't seem to effect the accuracy at all.
The load data on the Hodgdons site appears to be right on the money.
