Every now and then it is important to verify the "stores", so I weighed and counted 50/50 - WW/Pb ingots for a total of 563 pounds in 183 ingots.

That'll make ~25,000 x 158 gr. x .357 Mag SWC's, or ~20,000 x 185 x 45 ACP JHP's, or ~22,500 in some mix thereof.

Except for the fuel added to smelt the alloy, and some tin to add 2% to the mix, it was FREE!!!!

[LATE NOTE]
Somebody should have mentioned that I typed the "J" letter above, now [X]'d out. These are CAST HP's. Dooph! I slipped one by typing with my thumbs...

I've lost track too. But it's comforting to think of my stash as "uncountable."

Way to brag [emoji35]

There are no WW to be had in the Detroit area. Just too hard to compete with scrappers.

I got lost in the inventory thing. I had it all counted up somewhere and figured out what I needed of what to balance out my favorite boolit mixes because I had a lifetime supply, but not in exact percentages to run out of all alloys at the same time, should I hit 120 years old.:D So I was buying more of this or that to even it out, then I lost the list, so now I just buy more of everything when I see a fair price.
I figure that's the safest way. :lovebooli

Thats probably something we should all do. I have thought about buying a good commercial scale, but the need does not justify the cost. I'm not sure if I'm at that "lifetime" supply yet, but it will still take me a while to count it all up.

So, is it time to stock up for next year? Good that your getting an early start!

Way to brag.

I hope your own inventory leaves you feeling just as well.

I have thought about buying a good commercial scale, but the need does not justify the cost.

I used a simple, old fashioned, balance beam with scale graduated in 0.25 ounces. This exact one:113211. The scale cost me $10 at a Garage Sale.

I have two test weights that I made from plastic containers and lead boolits weighed on a digital scale. The first is one (1) pound, the second is two (2) pounds. Knowing the ingots to be at or near 3-pounds each, the balance beam allows for "fine tuning" to get the ounces over either the two pound or combined the three pound "known" weights.

It's tough to keep track of stuff, I counted all mine as I was moving it to it's new location.

I just count buckets at ~230 pounds each and call it good.

Here's what it looks like, until I spread it out in 10 ammo boxes of about 60# each:

113213

Kind of feels like Ft Knox, in silver bars of lead.

That is a neat old scale. I passed up a commercial platform type scale a few years ago, at a fair price, just because I did not have room for it. Dumb move on my part!

I am just wondering if your homeowners insurance covers your house tipping over? (From the weight of all the Pb, in case you missed my humor).

Got the humor. What I don't want them to know is how many Primers and pounds of powder that I am using (not storing wink-wink) there.

I keep my stash in an old electrical panel, every time I add to or take from my stash I make a note on the inside of the door with a grease pencil.
