I have a fairly new Lee 10 Lb bottom pour pot. The old candle wax flux I have used wants to wick over the side of the pot and burn on the outside of the pot. What is the best way to clean this old wax off the outside of the pot?

I just drained my lee way down and the next time i fired it up, i turned on lower setting and used a wad of paper towels to wipe off the soft wax. i didn't get it all but the tiny bit left doesn't smoke so no prob for me. ymmv. by the way, i see that you are pretty new here. welcome to the finest forum on the web.

Flapper sander in an electric drill. Nice clean bowl.

Once you've gotten the wax cleaned up, consider switching to hardwood sawdust as a flux, no waxy residue and does a fine job of fluxing.

Wipe with paper towel and get as much as you can then crank up the heat and burn the rest away.
